What a day; A golden opportunity!

Yesterday, and continuing today there are masses of new ideas and loads of activity in Projectplace Ideas. I am super busy trying to reply to everyone:) Take the opportunity when the activity is up to enter your idea, or comment/vote on someone else's; today, you have more say than ever before!

The Projectplace iPhone app is no 1 fee business app in Sweden! Thanks everyone who dowloaded and made the app such a success. There's a special category on Projectplace Ideas for the iPhone app. Please leave your feedback for the app there.

We're humbled and excited that so many people want to help us test the new visual interface (or are you all that desperate for an iPhone?) The beta was full after only 29 minutes!

Tomorrow I will announce this month's top contributor to Projectplace Ideas. Contributions that count are new ideas, votes on someone else's idea, comments and tags. But only while you're logged in. If you have left anonymous votes and comments, please log in and you will be asked to verify that they are made by you. That way I can see them and they will count towards your contribution. Status setting and planning for the summer

I am busy busy trying to set status for all the ideas that have dropped into Projectplace Ideas. I am also trying to do a job description so that I can have some holiday at some point;) Although I love my job there are times when I prefer to be inaccesssible.

The status explanations should hopefully tell you what to expect. As always the ranking of an idea is important, as the higest ranking ideas are the ones that we will look at the most. Don't forget to share the link to ideas you like.

What's up right now you ask?

Well right now we have released an external beta trial of the new visual interface for Projectplace. And the 150 people we needed singed up in less than 30 minutes. Fantastic! Right now the score is about 1200 people who singed up. I'll keep you posted on what's happening with the beta and who wins the iPhone for participating. Check out the latest on Projectplace Labs. If you're one of the lucky ones who get to participate in the beta, please don't forget to comment, post and vote over at Projectplace Ideas. And the Projectplace iPhone app is the no 1 free business app in Sweden, it's a good day!

Sometimes you just need closure

Since we started in December it's been an interesting time. We have had a lot of inspiring ideas, good feedback, both positive and negative and some good times time solving problems and explaining how to do things in Projectplace. Thanks to all of you who have contributed by giving feedback, commenting, voting or maybe just reading.

One of the things that upset a lot of people in the December release was the removal of the ”Send me a copy” when you send documents via e-mail from Projectplace. We have had 3 threads, with quite a few votes, where people have wanted to get this feature reintroduced and we have listened. The checkbox was reintroduced last week. And I was happy to close the following threads:

Go to Projectplace Ideas to make sure your voice is heard, and don't forget to vote and comment on other people's ideas. If it's your first visit you can flip through all the ideas. Why not add the rss feed of Projectplace Ideas to your favourite rss reader. http://ideas.projectplace.com/xml/feedbacks That way you make sure you never miss anything new. You can also follow me on twitter http://twitter.com/ppideas.

This months special recognition goes to Holger Franke, he's a top contributor at Projectplace Ideas and someone who is not afraid to tell it like it is, thanks for giving me a nudge in the right direction.

PROJECTPLACE LAUNCHES IPHONE APPLICATION

Projectplace launces an iPhone version of their Project Management tool. The application is free to install and use and gives you access to documents, contacts and 500 MB storage space. The launch is part of Projectplace's strategy to provide a collaboration platform in the cloud for their users. The application will be developed according to user feedback.
Now, Projectplace users can search for and read documents, access meetings, issues and project milestones in their iPhone. Via a dynamic contact list you can call, text message or e-mail your project group. You can even use the GPS function to locate your colleagues.

- It is primarily the social functions from Projectplace that we have made available easily via an iPhone. The selection was made with people on the go in mind, people who need to get hold of a colleague, send a message or read up on a document before a meeting, says Peter Strömberg, resposible for Projectplace Labs

The application is released in English only and will be available for users on all of Projectplace's markets. User feedback will guide the future development of the application.

- Our strategic goal is to create a collaboration platform for our users in the cloud, explains Pelle Hjortblad, CEO of Projectplace. Projectplace Labs, a development platform where our users can share the latest product information and test new applications and functions, was launched already during Autumn 2008. We also have a user forum, Projectplace Ideas, where you can suggest new or changed functionality in our service, like the iPhone application.

The iPhone application is free of charge for all Projectplace users, even for users of Free – the free version of Projectplace - and is the first application where users get access to half a GB of free storage space. To install the application, search for Projectplace in the application store or go to www.projectplacelabs.com

iPhone, Lynx and more things that make me happy

When it rains, it pours:) The Projectplace iPhone App is finally approved and available for download from the app store. Download is free and available via iTunes or just by searching for Projectplace straight from your iPhone. Great news for Projectplace users and I know that a lot of you have been waiting for this opportunity.
Visit Projectplace Labs for more information.

We have also got a few people who have told us that they like the concept of Lynx. This makes me happy of course. I know that a lot of people contact us with big and complex project plans that they find cumbersome to update in Projectplace. My advice to you is; Try our Lynx and if you like it please tell us so in the Lynx category on Projectplace Ideas. Don't forget to vote for Lynx integration if you would like it.

Last months special thanks goes to Joachim Schirra, both for his many contributions on other people's ideas and for his own. Thanks Joachim! I hope you feel appreciated.

Until next time, stay well and good luck with your projects. What can we do to make you successful? Tell us at Projectplace Ideas and don't forget to read, comment and vote on other people's ideas.

Projectplace Ideas - collaboration is the only way forward

In December, Projectplace introduced a new way of getting feedback from our users through Projectplace Ideas.

Projectplace Ideas is a way of publically posting ideas that you have about features that you would like to see or change in Projectplace. But just as important as your inspiring ideas and feedback are the comments and votes that you add to other ideas. The process of innovation is very much a collaborative one, just look at the way the Nobel price is usually split between groups of scientists that have either worked together or simply evolved each other's ideas.

Aside: Yes, it could be considered sligthly conceited to compare an idea forum with the greatest scientific achievments. Then again, if you don't aim high you will never exceed your own expectations.

Every month I will acknowledge someone who has made my life as Community Manager happier, easier or generally better. This month's special thanks goes to Johannes Ortner who is the top contributor at Projectplace Ideas if you include votes and comments and has also added a photo. I like to see the people I talk to:)

Projectplace Ideas is a way for us to gauge roughly how big the interest is for a certain development/how big the percieved problem is for our users. This is important to prioritise when the ideas are endless and the resources finite. Sometimes we might even want you to contribute by asking about a specific area of Projectplace. Right now we have a category open about YAP. You don't know what YAP is? Faster than Excel and easier than Microsoft Project it's a new solution for task scheduling. Read more about it and test run the prototype at Projectplace Labs.

Our intital target was to get an average of around 100 hits a day when we started Projectplace Ideas. In hindsight this was a very moderate target. We now have about 300 visits to Projectplace Ideas every weekday. This makes me proud, proud to have such wonderful, engaging and inspirational users, but not satisfied.
