New Year and Projectplace for iPhone BETA

Beginning a new blog post is a bit like the new year. Or the beginning of a new project. All that white page or time streching out in front of you.

New Year's is my favourite holiday of the year. There are many reasons for this, like champagne, friends, sparklies, and fireworks, but I think the main reason is that feeling of starting fresh. The summarising of the previous and the sense of adventure in not quite knowing what is going to happen next.

Exciting stuff is underway. On Monday we will take down Projectplace Ideas and upgrade the platform to a new and improved version. Hopefully this can be done over day and you should be able to use Projectplace Ideas as usual on Tuesday...

The new version of Projectplace for iPhone is out. This is a beta version and we would like to have as much feedback as possible. Post it in the iPhone category and i will make sure the labs team look at it.

Projectplace Ideas a year later - 8% have status implemented

Today, I have closed some of the ideas and bugs that were implemented and fixed in last night's release. I realised that it's been approximately a year since we launched Projectplace Ideas. So here are some statistics

Total no of users: 21,637
Total no of contributions: 2,817 (votes, comments and ideas)
Total no of ideas: 625
Percent of ideas implemented: 8%

It's been a fun year. A lot of internal processes have had to be fine tuned and in some cases even reinvented. I feel confident that we will see a higher rate of ideas implemented next year.

I'm now looking forward to mid January, when we release a new version of Projectplace Ideas. It will look better but most importantly be easier to use and contain even more information for you.

Projectplace for iPhone - New Labs Edition Teaser

The Projectplace Labs Crew have done it again. There's a new app for the iPhone! Out in a special Labs Edition in an app store near you sometime soon...

I'm testing it out and I think it's great! Here are some of the things I love about the new app:

Increased collaboration: a personal guestbook - or wall - and a pm/chat function. Also all your contacts (other members in your projects) are in here, with a special section for your favourites.

Notification You get a ping for everything that happens in the app, when something is assigned to you, when someone writes in your guestbook. And with this version you can also choose to follow individual documents in projectplace. Then you get notifications whenever something happens to that document.

And the notification list is wonderful, like a mini history of the things I need to know about in my projects.

The Interface is nice and clean, I especially like the red star for favourites...

Of course there are still some things that could be improved...and a few bugs to get rid of. All in all though, I have to say that for me it's already hard to understand how I could do without this app.

It looks like it might come out in the app store soon-ish ... maybe even in the next couple of weeks. When it does we will ask for feedback, as much as possible, on Projectplace Ideas.

Oh, while I'm in the process of teasing you, here are some more screen shots from the new app:

Quality Meeting Postponed

Ah well, these things happen....Now booked for Monday instead. Gives you the weekend to boost the ideas that you really like: This is the list at the moment:
http://ideas.projectplace.com/status/103431-quality-backlog

Sort it on score to see what we will talk about. We basically go through as many of the top ranked quality ideas as we have time for in the meeting. Sometimes that will be three ideas and sometimes it will will be fifteen. It's greatly dependent of the nature of the idea. We also follow up on last meeting.
